Fantasy Combinations A classic example is a position requiring more years of experience with a technology than it has been in existence. According to Hajer, such postings are sometimes "written by recruiters who don't understand what they're putting in an ad. [Job seekers] make fun of companies that will list something like four years of .NET. The laundry listing is something they find really frustrating."

Well that's interesting. That REALLY spikes out the incompetence of recruiters.
It definately does. I think it's partially due to the incompetence of the recruiters, but I hold HR responsible. They are the ones that get the information for position requirements to the recruiters. One WOULD think the recruiter would say, "Hey, you might want to change this because it's not feasible".
But, it's an employer's market. With the current state of the job market and economy they can afford to have impossible goals and requirements.
Ah yes, I still remember making more of the (more than one) company that posted want ads when I was job-hunting back in 2003 that would post stuff like "Must have at least 5 years experience with Windows 2000." o.O
I haven't seen anything that glaringly bad since then, because now IT recruiters are looking for obscure programming languages and software packages that I've never heard of, so I don't have as easy a frame of reference.
